Childress County Crash Devastates Two Houston Area Families
Our thoughts and prayers go out to two Houston area families. Sebastian Jon Weiskopf of Houston and Dominique Myles of Katy were both fatally injured earlier this month in an 18-wheeler crash. The crash occurred in Childress County, Texas on July 3.
As mentioned in my blog Friday, early reports indicate that visibility conditions may have been poor; however, other factors may have also played a role and should be investigated. Past experiences have taught our lawyers that frequently there is more to a crash than suggested by preliminary reports.
Sometimes, we have found that the truck driver was driving distracted. Other times, we have learned that the truck driver was driving too many hours and fatigued. Still other times, we have found that the truck driver was operating a truck with bad brakes.
Law enforcement will only perform a limited investigation. The families will need legal help to discover the “whole truth” and prevent a similar reoccurrence in the future. The family will also need legal help to ensure that the insurance company does not take advantage of them.
